Rules

How do the rules differ?

The majority of the rules will be the same as the British Dodgeball leagues. We've made some adjustments to make things run a little quicker and allow newer players to not be penalised for being unfamiliar with the rules.

Team sizes

The games will be 4-aside with squads of up to 6 players. Teams will be balanced based on ability and reshuffled between meets to allow players to play with different people.

Game lengths

Unless stated otherwise sets will be a maximum of 2 minutes. Games will end 10 minutes after the planned start time regardless of actual start time. For this reason if there is less than 30 seconds left when the last set ends there will be no short set.

Tie-breaker

If games end in a draw and a winner is needed (final etc) a 1 minute set will take place continuing into sudden death if it ends in a draw.

Play ball call

You're given 5 seconds to move to make an attempt to play the ball (if your team has the majority of the balls in their possession) and some leniency will be given when newer players are attempting to call. The extent of this is up to the ref.

Headshots

Headshots will not count as a hit unless the player has moved their head into the path of the ball. Players will not be additionally penalised for headshots other than as the existing rules require, however if a player is repeatedly making headshots they should be warned and afterwards can then be sent off for repeated offenses.
